Don't miss Turtle Town or Soft-Shell Suburbs on your Turtley Awesome Adventure!

Seacrits Gallery

See the "SeaCrits of Hollywood", featuring the real-life sea critters you've seen in your favorite films. From sharks to clownfish, crabs, octopus, and lobsters, it's a star-studded gala to thrill every little pirate and mermaid - and their parents too!
On December 3, Underwater Adventures® Aquarium will debut a new seahorse exhibit and team up with leading sponsor of Project Seahorse, Guylian Chocolate, to educate guests on Project Seahorse's efforts. Seahorses are amongst the most endearing of all sea creatures. It might have something to do with their small size and gentle appearance, or perhaps it's because male seahorses carry and deliver the babies. Found in shallow, temperate, tropical seas worldwide, seahorses are increasingly at risk from overfishing and habitat destruction. At least 51 countries, including the United States, are involved in the seahorse trade. Each year, more than 20 million of the fish are harvested as pets and souvenirs or for use in traditional medicine. Seahorses are also caught accidentally in fishing nets. And the mangrove, sea grass and coral reef habitat they depend on is in jeopardy.
A new seahorse tank allowing guests to get nose to nose with several seahorses will debut at the aquarium's SeaCrits Gallery on December 3, 2004 . The new exhibit will feature 24 animals representing two of the 32 species of seahorses.
Guylian makes a donation, for every package of Guylian chocolate seashells sold, towards the Project Seahorse cause. Special programs will be planned on topics of the seahorse and conservation on the weekends of December 3 and 10, 2004 at Underwater Adventures® Aquarium. Beginning November 26, aquarium guests will also have the opportunity to sample new Guylian Twists, a seahorse shaped chocolate, as well as purchase the product at the aquarium's gift store.

Admission fee $7.95-$13.95, ages 2 and under free.
