Saint Paul has had an incredible year, as it started off 2004 by welcoming visitors around the world to the NHL All Star game and its stunning Winter Carnival ice palace last February, and hosting thousands along the Mississippi River as the final port of call for Grand Excursion 2004, a celebration of the upper Mississippi River in July. This past August, Saint Paul was the site of the inspiring Luis Palau Festival and the inaugural Saint Paul Inline Marathon in which 1800 racers skated along the streets lining downtown and the Mississippi River.

This is also the fifth and final year of the Peanuts Statues, which honor native son and Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz. Visitors who attend the World Cup of Hockey games will be able to seek out the nearly 100 creatively designed and decorated images dotting the Saint Paul streetscape, as the statues will be on display through September 19th. The design chosen for the final year, "Doghouse Days of Summer" features a classic pose of Snoopy lying on top of his doghouse daydreaming, with Woodstock perched on his stomach. Saint Paul sets up a Doghouse Visitors Center downtown during each Peanuts celebration, which is tremendously popular with visitors from around the world. Over two million visitors from all 50 states and sixty countries have come to Saint Paul during the past four summers to see statues of Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Lucy and Linus.
