Saint Paul Convention and Visitors Bureau Offers Assistance to Groups Affected by Hurricane Katrina
(Saint Paul, MN) The Saint Paul Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is offering to help relocate groups who had planned meetings and conventions in the areas affected by Hurricane Katrina.
The CVB has developed a list of open convention center dates and peak room night availability through May of 2006 to assist groups who may be able to relocate their convention to Saint Paul and the Twin Cities Metro area. A portion of the revenues from convention center rental and room nights will be dedicated to a hurricane relief fund or directly to the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau.
"Our hearts go out to the hundreds of thousands of people who have lost homes and loved ones in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina," said Julie Larson, vice president of convention and sales and marketing for the CVB. "But we also realize that hundreds of meetings will need to be relocated or rescheduled by businesses and organizations across the country, and we'd like to do whatever possible to assist planners with this task, while we give something back to the devastated communities."
Meeting planners may check on available dates by contacting the convention sales department at 651-265-4900 or 800-627-6101. Saint Paul is located just ten minutes from Mpls/St. Paul International airport in the central time zone and has direct flights to most major U.S. cities including New Orleans. Saint Paul offers 2300 guest rooms and over 230,000 sq. ft. of exhibit and meeting space within its RiverCentre convention and entertainment complex. For more information visit www.visitsaintpaul.com.
