(Saint Paul, MN) Saint Paul Mayor Chris Coleman and Saint Paul RiverCentre Convention & Visitors Authority (SPRCVA) President Karolyn Kirchgesler today unveiled the 2006 Visitor and Vacation Guide as well as a Saint Paul Fun Card, which offers substantial savings and discounts at 40 Saint Paul area hotels, restaurants and attractions.
The new promotional materials were distributed at a press conference held at the Science Museum of Minnesota, the site of the upcoming BODY WORLDS exhibit, which is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors to the capital city this summer and is prominently featured in the new Visitor & Vacation Guide. Saint Paul will also host several festivals and major sporting events, including the 2006 VISA Championships USA Gymnastics tournament August 16-19, which will determine the American men's and women's champions for artistic and rhythmic gymnastics.
"Saint Paul has always been a wonderful tourism destination, attracting millions of visitors each year," said Mayor Chris Coleman. "But with the extraordinary lineup of summer festivals on Harriet Island on the Mississippi, the BODY WORLDS exhibit at the Science Museum and a national gymnastics championship at Xcel Energy Center, a visit to Saint Paul in 2006 will be impossible to pass up."
BODY WORLDS, The Anatomical Exhibition of Real Human Bodies, which has been seen by 18 million people world wide, will be in town from May 5 through September 4, 2006.
"At the Science Museum, we know that real, authentic experiences provide the most meaningful learning opportunities," said Science Museum president Dr. Eric J. Jolly. "BODY WORLDS affords us a very memorable and powerful chance to help our visitors build awareness of how our bodies function and how our lifestyle choices affect our good health and well-being."
"We're thrilled to offer such a great selection of activities for our visitors this year, and we want to make it as easy and tempting as possible for visitors to navigate the city and discover all the outstanding dining and entertainment opportunities that await them in Saint Paul," said SPRCVA President Karolyn Kirchgesler. "The Visitor & Vacation Guide answers most visitor questions and the Fun Card offers terrific savings at many of our most popular hotels, attractions and restaurants. We're ready to welcome and assist everyone who comes to Saint Paul, whether it's for a convention, meeting, sporting or cultural event or family vacation."
The comprehensive 73 page Visitor & Vacation Guide provides gorgeous photos, detailed maps, hotel listings, a calendar of festivals and events, as well as descriptions and hours of Saint Paul area restaurants, bars and clubs, shops, parks, museums, theaters, historic sites and other attractions.
