Saint Paul Honored with Two "Best of Show" Awards
(Saint Paul, MN) Saint Paul RiverCentre Convention & Visitors Authority (SPRCVA) announced that it received two "Best in Show" awards from Minnesota Meetings & Events Magazine. Saint Paul RiverCentre received the award for the Best Convention Center and Keith Reardon, the General Manager of Wildside Caterers, was honored as Best Supplier. This is the first year that Saint Paul RiverCentre and Reardon received the top honors.

Saint Paul RiverCentre was nominated for the awards by the readers of Minnesota Meetings & Events magazine, the premier trade publication for meeting planners and hospitality service providers in the state of Minnesota, distributed nationally to over 20,000 industry leaders. Saint Paul RiverCentre is Saint Paul's premiere convention facility boasting over 173,000 square feet of exhibit space and 58,000 square feet of meeting space including a 27,111 square foot ballroom and 15 meeting rooms, many of which overlook the Mississippi River or Saint Paul's exquisite Rice Park. Saint Paul RiverCentre can host a multitude of events ranging from trade shows and conventions to black tie affairs or board meetings. Saint Paul RiverCentre has hosted the Starkey Hearing Foundation "So the World May Hear" Gala for the past two years. www.rivercentre.org

Keith Reardon, the General Manager of Wildside Caterers, was inducted into the Hall of Fame as Best Supplier. Hall of Fame members are nominated by the publication's editorial and advisory board, as seasoned professionals that have proven their industry prowess. Wildside Caterers, a division of Morrissey Hospitality Companies, provides catering services for all events within Saint Paul RiverCentre, Xcel Energy Center and 317 on Rice Park, an historic event center. Reardon was credited with the creative excellence he showed catering events surrounding the 2004 NHL All-Star Game and serving 4000 guests at an outdoor Bare Naked Ladies concert held at the site of the Saint Paul Winter Carnival Ice Palace.

"We are very honored to receive these distinctive awards," said Brad Toll, vice president of marketing for the SPRCVA. "It's a privilege to be chosen as best of the best, as competition throughout the state of Minnesota is very intense. We know that planners love the fact the Saint Paul's convention center is located in the heart of downtown on the Mississippi River, within walking distance to hotels, theaters, restaurants and entertainment and that the city is so accessible from anywhere in the country. We'll continue to offer the friendly, professional service that earned us these awards and look forward to making even greater improvements to our convention product in the coming months."

Saint Paul is conveniently located on the Mississippi River just ten miles from downtown Minneapolis and minutes from the Mpls/St. Paul International Airport and Mall of America. In addition to the Saint Paul RiverCentre convention and entertainment complex, it offers many unique, historic meeting and banquet venues and 1500 downtown hotel rooms within walking distance of the convention center. Its walkable downtown area boasts five beautiful parks, a wide selection of restaurants and cafes and a vibrant theater and entertainment district, with several museums, galleries and more theater seats per capita than any U.S. city with the exception of New York.
