Saint Paul Winter Carnival Named a Top International Event by ABA
(Saint Paul, MN) The Saint Paul Winter Carnival was named a top internationally renowned event for 2007 by the American Bus Association (ABA). It is the only Minnesota event that made the list of 25 festivals and events that attract international attention. Other prominent events that made the list include the Tournament of Roses, Mardi Gras, the Kentucky Derby, the Indy 500 and Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
"We're thrilled to be named to ABA's top international event list," said Brad Toll, Vice President of Marketing for the Saint Paul RiverCentre Convention and Visitors Authority (RCVA). "Winter Carnival is one of Saint Paul's oldest and most cherished festivals. It has always drawn visitors from across the country and around the world, but to be recognized as a top international festival along with such a prestigious group of events is truly a feather in our cap. This honor definitely distinguishes Saint Paul as a top tourism destination for the group tour market."
The Saint Paul Winter Carnival is the nation's oldest and largest winter festival dating back to 1886. It celebrates the city's beautiful winter weather with over 75 events including snow and ice sculptures, parades, sporting events on snow and ice, contests and community activities.
The American Bus Association is the trade organization of the intercity bus industry with about 1000 motorcoach owner and tour company members and 2300 travel and tourism organizations in the United States and Canada. In addition to naming the top internationally renowned North American events, ABA also issues an annual list of the Top 100 North American Events as a way to help tour planners to find new destinations for their customers. Over time, the list has grown to a must-have for travel planners, travel writers and travel bureaus, to help encourage motorcoach and group travel to destinations, and is a coveted honor for events to help increase motorcoach and group attendance.
