Saint Paul Offers Several New Attractions for Groups
Saint Paul, MN (January 11, 2007) The Saint Paul RiverCentre Convention and Visitors Authority continues to offer new attractions and exhibits that will have a strong appeal to the group market. Here are a few gems you'll want to consider when planning visits to Saint Paul.

Science Museum of Minnesota - RACE: Are We So Different? (Jan 10-May 6)
The world premiere of this exhibit examines scientific, historical and cultural perspectives about race. Ever since our country's beginnings, we have used the idea of race to describe the different ways people look. At times racial identity has been a source of strength and community; it is also the basis for discrimination and oppression. RACE brings together history and findings of contemporary science that challenges its foundations. In 2007, the Science Museum of Minnesota will also celebrate its Centennial with special visitors - 100 artists designed dinosaur sculptures will deck downtown parks and sidewalks throughout the summer months. For more information call 651-221-9444 or visit www.smm.org.

Como Zoo's New Visitor Center and Tropical Encounters Exhibit
The Como Zoo and Marjorie McNeely Conservatory in Saint Paul has added a new visitor and event center which can accommodate groups for classroom demonstrations and special tours. The event center can host groups for a variety of different meal functions ranging from box lunches to buffet lunches to sit-down catered dinners. A special visit from a "Como Zoo resident" can also be arranged. Guided tours and programs can be combined with meal functions for a set per person fee. Groups also receive a 10% discount in the gift shop. The zoo recently opened the Tropical Encounters exhibit which is a total emersion experience allowing guests to visit an authentic neo-tropical rainforest and explore the relationships between plants and animals. Tropical Encounters takes guests on an adventure through a Central and South American rainforest through the eyes of experienced Minnesotan field researchers and hundreds of plants and animals. Guests will encounter freshwater stingrays, giant river turtles, frogs, toads, fish, free-roaming birds, an anaconda and sloth. They will also view rainforest trees and plants including strangler fig, mahogany, peach palm, balsa, ice cream bean and more. We Gotta Bingo! Extended Through 2007
If you have not yet brought your groups to We Gotta Bingo! at the new Lowry Theatre, you're in luck as the run has been extended through 2007. If your groups have consistently enjoyed great interactive comedies such as Tony n Tina's Wedding or Flanagan's Wake, they'll love this new comedy staged by Actors Theater Company of Minnesota. The show focuses on two Saint Paul parishes, one Irish and one Italian, which have been forced to "merge" for a monthly Bingo fundraiser. The hall is designed to resemble "The Loyal Hall of Brewery Workers" and is decorated with memorabilia from Saint Paul's historic breweries. An Italian dinner is served midway through the performance and the cast members take drink orders throughout the evening. Performances take place Thursday through Sunday. Group rates range from $46.50 - $59.50, with Saturday evening performances priced from $63.50 - 68.50. For tickets and additional information call 651-227-BINGO or visit www.wegottabingo.com.

While your group is in the Rice Park area, be sure to stop by the TRACES exhibit
which presents stories of Midwesterners' experiences during World War II and their encounters with Germans and Austrians both in the U.S. and abroad. Your group might also enjoy the Woodturners Museum, which exhibits wooden handicrafts including bowls, vases, gavels, bats, tops etc. Both museums are located on the second level of the Landmark Center on Saint Paul's Rice Park. For more information, visit www.traces.org or www.woodturner.org.
